Volunteer

Volunteerism is a major goal of our 5toThrive Annual Campaign. Parent volunteers are critical to the success of the Hawthorne Seminar Foundation, as well as Hawthorne Elementary School. We hope you will consider giving generously of your time.

Below is a list of Foundation and PTA events and programs that are only possible with the help of parent volunteers. Descriptions are provided, along with information on how to get involved. PTA Turkey Trot Jog-a-Thon

Largest PTA fundraiser of the year. Parents needed to collect donation pledges, set-up and clean-up, and more. Contact PTA President.
Applebee’s Fundraiser Breakfasts
Fall and Spring
On two weekend mornings, we take over Applebeeʼs where our kids serve us breakfast! An event coordinator is needed to sell tickets, liaise with Applebeeʼs, and ensure the event runs smoothly. Contact Foundation President.
Robotics Club
September through May
One day a week after school to help kids build robots and complete challenges. Contact Mrs. Smith.
Spring Fling
Spring
Largest fundraiser of the year. Dinner and silent auction at a restaurant or catering hall. Childcare for Hawthorne Seminar students and school-aged siblings provided off-site by Mrs. Smith. Volunteers needed to obtain donations for auction, set-up and clean-up, ticket sales, make centerpieces, and more. Contact Foundation Vice President.
Los Angeles Field Trip
Spring
Field trip to Los Angeles for 4th and 5th graders with a day trip for 4th, overnight for 5th. Drivers and chaperons needed with Class D license. Contact Classroom Parent.
Classroom Parent
All Year Long
Help your child's teacher to communicate and coordinate needs for the classroom throughout the year. Contact the PTA President.
